Wall Specifications & Requirements

Wall location and dimensions

The selected wall design will be located in the lobby of the corporate headquarters of SeAH Superalloy Technologies, currently being constructed in the Industrial Park in Temple.

The dimension and proportions of the wall are critical to the success of the quality and appearance of the final lobby ImageWall.®

The lobby wall dimensions are 15' high x 50'6" long.

A transparent .png file has been set up to the correct scaled proportions at 300 ppi (high resolution). Use this template when creating your design. This will ensure that your file is the correct size and resolution.

Be sure to read all of the guidelines listed below.

Image Guidelines

Aspect Ratio

The image aspect ratio should match the aspect ratio of a project scope. Download the PNG template for correct aspect ratio for this project.

If the image and aspect ratios are not correct, more collaboration may be required to ensure that the correct portion of the image is captured for the project and will also prevent an undesired scaling in one direction only, thus resulting in unintentional results.

Resolution

In general, a higher resolution image is always better. The downloadable template is set up to a 1" = 1' scale and at 300 ppi resolution.

Color

It’s best to start with a grayscale image. Grayscale images better predict the results of ImageWall.

Detail

Avoid etching or small details that cannot be appropriately represented in a ½” grid. For instance, if an area is intended to read as shadow, the shadow should not be etched lines. If a shadow is originally depicted by etched lines, that area should be replaced with a constant shading.

Text

Text should be sufficiently large to be defined by the grid size. Text that is too small may not be legible if the grid size is not compatible.

Use of Blurring

Blurring of an image, or of specific details within an image, can reduce the visual effect of stair-stepping at high contrast boundaries. Finite etching should be blurred, or overlaid with a shade, to produce better shadow results. Blurring will create a smoother transition, and partial blend out the stair-stepping effect.

Want to see how your design will look?

Instantly see how your image will look in perforated metal by trying the ImageWall Visualizer—a 3D rendering tool that allows you to upload your own images, select your finish of choice, and download a PNG export of your ImageWall design. You may add this exported image to your DropBox entry folder to show the judges what you are envisioning with your design. However, DO NOT use the export has your final submission file.

Contrast can be the key!

Carefully consider contrast in your design, as the perforated technology interprets tones differently. Ensuring strong contrast will help maintain clarity and visual impact in the final mural.
